Dental Implants in Palm Desert

Our doctors recommend dental implants as the modern solution for tooth replacement.

The Modern Solution for Tooth Replacement

A dental implant is a titanium post that is inserted into your jaw to act as a replacement tooth root. Through a connecting piece known as an abutment, a dental crown, bridge or denture is placed on top of your implants to replace your missing teeth.

Dental Implants are the modern gold standard of tooth replacement and have many benefits and advantages over all other replacement options. They look, feel and function just like natural teeth. They provide full chewing power, help prevent bone loss in your jaw, and with proper care they can last a lifetime.

Our Dental Implant Procedure

Dr. Bergmann and Dr. Izu guide the entire procedure from diagnostics and planning through to the placing of your final restorations.

Meticulous planning

Dental Implants

We will take a full battery of X-rays for accurate diagnostics before any treatment begins.

Our doctors meticulously plan your treatment so your implants are placed stably and in the optimum positions to support the restorations that will be mounted on top of them. They will first take a full battery of X-rays and have you receive a 3D CT scan of your teeth and jaw. From these images, they will plan out the precise position and angle of your dental implants in partnership with the periodontist or oral surgeon who will place them.

Bone grafting and implant placement

The periodontist or oral surgeon will perform any needed bone grafting to ensure adequate bone support and will place the implants according to our doctors’ directions. You will then have your temporary restorations placed while your implants heal.

Top-quality restorations

Dental Implants

Your restorations will be handcrafted and made to look beautiful and totally natural.

Our doctors design and place both the temporary and final restorations that are mounted on top of your implants. Your restorations are made to look totally natural and to fit in perfect alignment with the rest of your teeth.

Dr. Bergmann’s expertise as a prosthodontist enables him to create and place very aesthetic and functional restorations even for challenging situations. This can include making a restoration with natural-looking gum-colored sections if it is being placed in an area where the gum line has shrunk. He can also make and place restorations to fit in small spaces or at unusual angles.

Advanced attachment techniques

Whenever feasible, our doctors will design your final restorations to be mounted onto your implants by means of screw attachments rather than cemented on using traditional dental cement. Unlike cemented restorations, screw-retained restorations can easily be detached from the implants later, repaired if needed, and placed back without damage to the restoration or implant post. They also eliminate the risk of dental cement leaking from the crown and causing infection in your surrounding gum tissue.

Who Are Candidates for Dental Implants?

Due to major advances in technology, most people can now safely and successfully receive dental implants. In the past, people with too much bone loss around the missing teeth did not have an adequate foundation to support implants. Advanced bone grafting techniques are now able to rebuild adequate bone in most patients.

Even patients with health issues that formerly made implant placement too risky can now often safely receive implants. This includes people with heart disease, diabetes or who are heavy smokers. There is no age restriction except that implants cannot be placed in young people whose jaws have not yet fully developed.

Our doctors will be able to tell you if you are a candidate for dental implants after an exam and consultation.
