Tooth Extractions in Palm Desert

Minimally Invasive and Comfortable Tooth Extractions

Dr. Bergmann and Dr. Izu will do everything they can to save your teeth and are highly skilled at doing so. However, there are times they come across a tooth that is too deteriorated to be salvaged. In those cases, our doctors perform gentle and comfortable tooth extractions that are as minimally invasive as possible.

Gentle Tooth Removal

Our doctors use a technique that gently removes the tooth while preserving the surrounding gum and bone as much as possible. The procedure is non-traumatic and patients often comment that they didn’t feel anything at all.

Comfortable Injections

After applying a topical anesthetic to the injection site, the doctor slowly administers a special anesthetic that is similar to the body’s pH level. This removes the burning or stinging sensations often caused by other formulations. As a result, patients feel little or no sensation when the injection is given.

Helping You Feel at Ease

We provide warm blankets for added comfort in the dental chair.

Your comfort is a top priority for us, and we do everything possible to help you feel relaxed and at ease during your procedure. We provide pillows and blankets as needed, for added comfort in the treatment chair.

We also provide several sedation options for patients with heightened anxiety. If you need sedation, the doctor will let you know which option is most appropriate for your situation.

Preserving the Bone in Your Socket

The bone surrounding a tooth needs the pressure from biting and chewing to maintain its volume and density. After a tooth is lost, this pressure is lacking and can lead to bone loss around the empty socket left by the missing tooth. Bone loss around a missing tooth will cause your bony ridge to sink, and can cause your adjacent teeth to shift position and adversely affect your bite.

Many times after an extraction, Dr. Bergmann will graft bone material into the empty socket to preserve the height and width of your bony dental ridge. This procedure is known as either a ridge preservation or a socket graft. There are times when he will coordinate more complex treatment procedures with other specialists.

The bone graft material will stimulate the regeneration of new bone in the socket up to the natural height of the ridge. This will help stabilize the adjacent teeth, prepare the site to support a future dental implant and maintain the aesthetics of your gumline.
